London has pipped Paris to host the 2012 Olympic games. This is great news for London but is a slap in the face for Billingham, whose own bid has gone largely unnoticed. The refurbishment of the Forum ice rink and installation of new coin-operated lockers at the swimming pool has been all in vain, along with the ambitious plans to host the athletics events on the local school playing field.
Once again it's the South that has grabbed everything and left the North looking on in envy.

you were very quick off the mark with this posting - I noticed it just a few mins after the announcement today!
So London gets the Olympics but the capital isn't getting Stevie, phew what a relief..and all those people who burnt their Gerrard shirts will need new ones now!

It's been a right carry on with Gerrard. Personally I don't think he's done himself any favours though I guess all will be forgotten pretty soon.
